Can I cancel?+

Yes, cancel any time from your account settings. You can keep your String number by porting it away to another provider before leaving or cancelling String.

Is there a contract?+

No. String is month to month.

What happens at the end of the free 30 days?+

Your plan starts billing at $19.99 or $26.99 a month. Your plan will bill for the next month if you haven’t canceled before the end of your free 30 day trial.

Can I keep my existing phone number?+

Yes. Transfer it into String and keep using it for calls and texts. You can also add texting to an existing landline number (commonly known as “hosted messaging”).

Do credits expire?+

No. Mass messaging credits never expire and roll over month to month.

What counts as a message?+

Conversations with individual customers are unlimited and do not use credits. In a mass message, each recipient uses one credit.

Do I need an EIN or a registered business?+

US carriers require every business texting number to be registered before it can send. String handles that registration for you during setup, which is why most accounts are ready to text within 24 to 48 hours. You will be asked for your business name, address, and EIN if you have one. How many people can use it?+

Add multiple users to an inbox at no extra charge, on either plan. You can also add more numbers, each with its own inbox (billed as their own separate plans).

Are there mobile apps?+

Yes, on iOS and Android, plus the web app. Push notifications keep every device in sync.

How soon can I send my first text?+

Most accounts are ready to text within 24 to 48 hours of signing up, once registration clears.

What’s the difference between group messaging and mass messaging?+

Group messaging sends conversational messages to multiple people in the same group — they can see each other’s number and replies. Group messaging doesn’t require credits. Mass messaging (also called bulk messaging) can send marketing messages, keyword promos, and more to large audiences at the same time, but the recipients receive the messages individually.
